This week at city arts our assignment for the students was for them to represent community in their eyes. It was amazing to watch each of their different interpretations of what community meant to them. I noticed a lot of them chose to photograph City Arts or the people that work for the program. I thought this was incredible because it shows how much of an impact City Arts has made on all of the students and how in some ways it becomes their sense of community and even sometimes their family. Everyone came together after we finished taking the photos and all praised one another for the work they had all done, which was also amazing to watch. Meeting the young artists was so exciting! They were all extremely eager for the class and jumped right into the activities as soon as they were given a camera. The two young artists I worked with seemed to know exactly what they wanted to photograph as we walked around the neighborhood. When we regrouped for our closing discussion I was very pleased that every young artist had at least one, if not more pictures they wanted to share with the group. These children are very talented I can't wait to see the photos they will take for the rest of this class. AuthorIsabella Christilles, Providence College Class of 2019, Studio Art Major |
